2024 Moana Nui Summer Fellowship

About the Summer Fellowship.

SPIO is excited to launch the inaugural Moana Nui Summer Fellowship. This program is dedicated to empowering Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander (NHPI) students by providing them with the tools, resources, and network to excel in their academic and professional journeys. Our Summer Fellowship program is designed to foster career development, leadership, professional development, and project management skills among high school and college students from NHPI communities.

As a Moana Nui Summer Fellow, you will embark on a transformative journey, engaging in a variety of projects and initiatives that will hone your professional skills, expand your network, and deepen your understanding of career pathways. Through tailored mentorship, hands-on projects, and leadership training, you will build confidence, skills, and knowledge propelling you forward in your educational and career pathway.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management: Lead a project that aligns with your interests and career goals, managing timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations.

Leadership Development: Participate in workshops and seminars designed to cultivate leadership skills, including effective communication, team management, and strategic planning.

Professional Development: Engage in career exploration activities, resume workshops, interview preparation sessions, and networking events with professionals in your field of interest.

Community Engagement: Contribute to community service projects and initiatives that impact NHPI communities, fostering a sense of responsibility and community leadership.

Research and Analysis: Conduct research on topics related to NHPI communities and present findings to peers and mentors, enhancing your analytical and presentation skills.

Eligibility

Current high school or college student of NHPI descent.

Demonstrated interest in career development, leadership, and community service.

Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.

Self-motivated, with a willingness to learn and take initiative.

Ability to commit to the full duration of the summer program.
